Tournament settings, admins and what a non-admin gets

Where the settings page hides, what each section does, and how to give someone else the keys.

Every tournament has a settings page. It is not one of the tabs on the board, which is why people miss it.

Before you start

Only the tournament's owner and its admins can open settings. Everyone else is sent to the read-only view.

Opening settings

  1. Open Tournament in the sidebar.

  2. Select the three dots on the tournament's card, then Edit.

The tournament list with a card menu open showing Edit and Remove.

There is a second way in: the small gear badge on the tournament crest at the top of the board.

The Edit Tournament page showing the Profile Appearance section and the Billing section with the current plan.

What each section does

  • Profile appearance - the tournament's banner and crest. JPG, GIF or PNG, 3MB maximum.

  • Billing - which tournament plan this tournament is on.

  • Setup - the name, the start date and the match duration.

  • Roles - the owner, and the admins who help run it.

  • Chat - whether anyone can post, or only you and your admins.

  • Location - the venues.

  • Danger zone - deleting the tournament.

Each section saves on its own. Its Save Changes button applies that section and nothing else.

Adding an admin

An admin gets the same settings page you do. Give one to whoever is running the pitch while you are elsewhere.

The Roles section showing the owner's email and one admin, with an Add Admin link.

  1. Select Add Admin.

  2. Enter their email address and select Continue.

The Add Admin dialog with an email address entered and the Continue button outlined.

They appear in the Admins list straight away, with a Remove beside them.

The Roles section with an admin listed, their email outlined, and a Remove link.

What someone without a role sees

If they open the settings address without being the owner or an admin, they are not shown an error. They land on the tournament's read-only view.

The read-only tournament view for someone with no role, showing Info, Participants, Standings, Matches, Leaderboard and Chat tabs, the tournament summary and the group standings.

They get Info, Participants, Standings, Matches, Leaderboard and Chat. No setup screens, no settings.

If it does not work

  • There is no settings tab on the board. There is not meant to be. Use the card menu on your tournament list, or the gear on the crest.

  • You opened settings and were sent to the tournament page instead. You are not the owner or an admin of that tournament. Ask the owner to add you.

  • Your change did not save. Each block has its own Save Changes. Saving the Setup block does not save an admin you just added, and the other way round.

  • The person you added cannot get in. They need a Scoryboard account on that exact email address.
