Tournament crest, banner and phase names

Give the tournament its own artwork, and rename the phases and groups Scoryboard generated for you.

A tournament starts with a stock photo and initials. Both are yours to change, along with the names of the phases and groups.

Before you start

Only the tournament's owner and its admins can change any of this.

The banner and the crest

Open your tournament list, select the three dots on the card, then Edit. Both images sit at the top, under Profile appearance.

The banner is the wide image across the top of the tournament. Its edit and delete buttons are in its top right corner.

The crest is the circle sitting on the banner. It shows the tournament's initials until you upload something. Its own edit and delete buttons are just underneath it.

Both take a JPG, GIF or PNG, up to 3MB.

What you will see

The crest appears on your tournament list card, at the top of the board, and on the public page. The banner runs across the top of both the board and the public page. There is no separate save - the image is applied as soon as it uploads.

Phase and group names

When you save a format, Scoryboard names things for you. A football tournament with groups gets a phase called Group Phase and groups called Group A, Group B and so on. Rename them from the tournament's Format tab.

The crest and banner above work the same on every tournament. What you find on the Format tab depends on the format you chose.

  1. Select the pencil beside the phase name.

  2. Type the new name and select Save.

Groups work the same way, but their dialog does more than rename. Edit group also sets how many teams are in that group and how many times they play each other.

If it does not work

  • The upload is rejected. Only JPG, GIF and PNG are accepted, and the file has to be under 3MB.

  • You changed the wrong image. The banner and the crest have separate controls. The banner's are in the corner of the wide image; the crest's are under the circle.

  • There are no phases to rename. Phases and groups only exist once you have saved a format on the Format tab.

  • Changing a group's team count did nothing you expected. That field reshapes the group, not just its label. Check the fixtures afterwards.
