Rescheduling fixtures, and rolling them onto the next day

Moving one fixture, moving several, spreading a group across more than one day, and taking a fixture back off the schedule.

Every fixture can be moved after it has been generated. Only the tournament Owner and an Administrator can do it; everyone else sees the read-only public page.

Moving one fixture

  1. Open the tournament and select Schedule.

  2. Find the fixture. The bottom of its card has four cells you can change: the date, the kick-off time, the pitch and the referee.

Each change saves as you make it. There is no separate save button.

Moving several fixtures

  1. Select SELECT MATCH TO UPDATE on the group.

  2. Tick the fixtures you want. The button counts them.

  3. Select UPDATE SELECTED MATCHES. It opens the same dialog BULK MATCH UPDATE does, but it only changes the fixtures you ticked.

Rolling fixtures onto the next day

A group that will not fit into one day can spill over into the next. The control that does it is End time.

Only a Group & knockout tournament has an End time. A Group phase only tournament is a round-robin league, and its dialog has no End time and no other cutoff. Its fixtures cannot be rolled this way.

  1. Select BULK MATCH UPDATE on the group.

  2. Set the Match date and the First match start time.

  3. Set End time. Nothing will be scheduled to finish after it.

  4. Clear Same start time per round, then set Duration and Time between matches.

  5. Select Update Matches.

    Six fixtures spread two per day across Saturday 19, Sunday 20 and Monday 21 September, kicking off at 10:00 and 10:35 each day.

What you will see

Fixtures fill the first day until one would finish past your End time. That one moves to the next day and starts again at your first start time.

The cutoff counts the whole match, not just its kick-off. The dialog says so: "If the next match would finish past this time, scheduling moves to the next day."

Six fixtures, 15 minutes each, 20 minutes apart, starting at 10:00 with an End time of 11:00 work out like this:

  • 10:00 to 10:15. It fits.

  • 10:35 to 10:50. It fits.

  • The next would run 11:10 to 11:25. That finishes after 11:00, so it moves to the next day.

Two matches a day, then the next day, and so on.

Taking a fixture out of the schedule

A Group phase only tournament - the round-robin league - groups its fixtures by week. A fixture with no date sits in a band of its own, UNSCHEDULED, under the week bands. Dragging a fixture into that band is the only way to take a date off a fixture.

The band has to be there already. It appears only while at least one fixture in the group has no date. A freshly generated group starts that way: every fixture in the band, waiting to be dragged into a week. Once you have dated them all the band goes, and nothing in that group can be unscheduled again.

This is football, and Group phase only. A Group & knockout tournament has no week bands and no UNSCHEDULED band.

  1. Open the tournament and select Schedule. Find the group and the UNSCHEDULED band under its weeks.

  2. Drag a fixture card onto the band. The band lights up while you hold the card over it.

  3. Let go. The card moves into the band.

The fixture now reads Incomplete and all four of its cells are empty. Nothing else confirms the move: the card changing bands is the confirmation.

Dragging it back is not an undo. A fixture dropped into a week takes the earliest kick-off already in that week, so it lands on top of the fixture that holds that slot - two fixtures, one time. If nothing in that week has a date, it lands on the tournament's start date at midnight instead and shows a kick-off nobody chose. Either way, set the date and the time on the card afterwards, or bulk-update the group.

If it does not work

  • You want to delete a fixture. You cannot. A tournament fixture has no delete or cancel control. The fixtures come from the group, so removing one means deleting the group - see "Editing and deleting a group in a football tournament" - or changing the format, which rebuilds the whole list.

  • The pitch cell will not open. Select it once, directly. It turns into a text box.

  • Everything landed on one day. No End time was set, so nothing was pushed over.

  • There is no End time in the dialog. This is a Group phase only tournament. Only Group & knockout has one.

  • Every fixture now starts at the same time. Same start time per round was left ticked. See "Why two football fixtures clash, and fixtures showing only one team".

  • Nothing saved. The dialog needs at least one field filled in.

  • There is no UNSCHEDULED band. Every fixture in the group has a date. The band shows only while one does not.

  • You cannot find the band. It is the last band in the group, under the weeks, not above them.

  • A fixture you dragged back now clashes. It took the kick-off of the first fixture in that week. Give it its own time on the card - see "Why two football fixtures clash, and fixtures showing only one team".
