Your profile photo, banner and bio

How to add a profile photo and a banner, crop them, write your bio, and why the bio has to come last.

Your photo, your banner and your bio are the three things other players see first. All three are on Profile settings.

Before you start

Set your photo and your banner before you write your bio. Saving a new photo empties the bio, so a bio written first is lost.

Add a photo, a banner and a bio

  1. Open Profile settings. With no images of your own, the banner shows Scoryboard's default artwork and your photo shows your initial.

The Profile appearance card with the default banner and an initial in place of a photo. The edit control under the photo is outlined.

  2. Select the edit control under your photo and choose an image. Scoryboard opens Edit Your Avatar.

  3. Scroll to zoom and drag to position, then select Apply.

The Edit Your Avatar window: a circular crop over the chosen image, a zoom slider, Cancel and Apply.

  4. Your photo uploads at once. There is nothing to save.

The Profile appearance card with the new photo in the circle.

  5. Select the edit control at the top right of the banner and choose an image.

The same card, with the banner's edit control outlined at the top right.

  6. Position the crop box, then select Apply & Upload.

The Crop Banner window: the chosen image with a wide crop box across the middle, Cancel and Apply & Upload.

  7. Both are now in place.

The Profile appearance card with the new photo and the new banner.

  8. Scroll to My bio and write up to 150 characters. The count under the box tells you how many you have used.

The My bio box with a bio typed in it. The character count, 73/150, is outlined.

  9. Select Save Changes.

What you will see

Scoryboard stores a wide strip from the middle of the banner image you choose, not the whole of it. A picture with its subject in the centre survives the crop best.

The bin beside each edit control removes that image at once. There is no confirmation, and the default artwork comes back.

If it does not work

  • Your bio has emptied itself. You changed your photo after writing it. Type the bio again and select Save Changes.

  • A yellow note appears in the crop window. Your image is smaller than Scoryboard would like. It still uploads, but a larger one looks better.

  • Your file is refused. The page takes a JPG, a GIF or a PNG, up to 3MB.

  • Your photo looks cut off. The circle crops a square from the middle. Drag the image in the crop window before you apply it.
