Removing a member, and blocking them

How to take somebody off a team, what blocking adds, and why neither asks you to confirm.

You remove somebody from a team on its Edit Team page. Only the Owner and Administrators can.

Before you start

Neither of these asks you to confirm. Both act the moment you select them, and neither can be undone. Read the menu before you pick from it.

Take somebody off the team

  1. Open the team's Edit Team page and find the person in TEAM PLAYERS. Select the menu at the end of their row.

A member's row menu open, offering Edit, Remove from team and Remove & Block.

  2. Select Remove from team to take them off. They can be added back, and they can rejoin with the team's invitation link.

The same menu with Remove from team outlined.

  3. Select Remove & Block instead to take them off and stop them letting themselves back in.

The same menu with Remove & Block outlined.

  4. Check the member list. Somebody who has been removed simply is not there any more.

What blocking actually does

Blocking stops one thing: the person letting themselves back in. If they open the team's invitation link, they are asked whether they want to join like anybody else, and told no when they try.

The Join Team dialog with the line "You are blocked from joining this team." outlined, above the No thanks and Join team buttons.

Somebody removed without the block joins straight away on the same link.

Blocking does not stop you adding them back. If you add their address again they are a member once more, and the block is lifted.

What you will see

Nothing. There is no list of removed members and no list of blocked people. Once somebody is off the team, the only sign of it is that they are not on it.

Keep your own note of who you have blocked. Scoryboard does not show you.

If it does not work

  • You removed the wrong person. There is no undo. Add them back with Add New Player and their email address.

  • You cannot tell whether somebody is blocked. You cannot. Adding them back clears it either way.

  • There is no menu on their row. Your own row has no menu. For anybody else's, you need to be the Owner or an Administrator.

  • A blocked person still shows in an old match. Removing somebody does not change matches that have already been played.
