Some teams belong to nobody. They were created with I don't want to own this team ticked, or they were set up for a tournament. Anybody can take one over by claiming it.
Claim a team
Search for the team by name in the search box at the top of the sidebar. An unclaimed team is in no team list, so search is the only way to reach one. Type at least three characters.
Select the result. An unclaimed team says Unclaimed Team where an ordinary one says Team, and carries a Claim Team button.
Select Claim Team and read the warning. Claiming says the team is yours and that you are responsible for it.
Select Claim. Scoryboard confirms it and the page becomes an ordinary team page.
Find the team in Teams. You are its Owner.
Ownership cannot be handed over
Claiming is the only way a team changes hands. There is no way to make somebody else the Owner of a team you own: the role list on a member offers Player and Administrator and nothing else.
If somebody else needs to run the team, make them an Administrator. They can then do everything except delete it.
What you will see
Once claimed, the team behaves like any other team you own. Create Match and Invite Player appear at the top, and you get its Edit Team page.
If it does not work
"This team is already claimed by someone else." Somebody got there first. Nothing more can be done from your side.
"This team name is already owned by somebody else in Scoryboard." The name clashes with a team that already exists. Contact the tournament admin to change the team's name before claiming it.
There is no Claim Team button. The team is not unclaimed. Only a team with nobody behind it can be claimed.
Search finds nothing. Type at least three characters, and check the spelling. Dummy teams never come up in search.
