Sharing, commenting on and deleting a leaderboard

Share a leaderboard by link or QR code, talk about it in the comments, or delete it. Only league members can comment, and deleting cannot be undone.

Three things at the edges of a leaderboard: sending people to it, talking about it, and getting rid of it.

Before you start

Anyone can share a leaderboard that appears in their list.

Only league members can comment or like. That means the Owner, an Administrator, and anybody playing for one of its teams. Everybody else can read the comments but not add one.

Only the Owner and an Administrator can delete it, and deleting cannot be undone.

Share it

  1. Open Leaderboards. The share control is the round button on the card's picture, top right.

A leaderboard card with the round share button on its banner outlined in red, beside the three-dot menu.

  2. Select it. Share Leaderboard opens with the link, a copy button and a QR code.

The Share Leaderboard window: "Share public link", the leaderboard's URL in a read-only field with a blue copy button, and a QR code below it.

  3. Select the copy button to put the link on your clipboard, or let somebody scan the QR code.

What you will see

The link is the board's own address - your site address, then /leaderboards/, then the leaderboard's id. It is the same every time.

Whoever opens it needs a Scoryboard account. The window calls it a public link, but somebody who is not signed in is sent to the sign-in page. Tell people to create an account first.

They cannot change anything. Somebody who is not a member sees the league table, the player figures and the fixtures. They do not see the team list, the Create Match button, or the settings screen.

Comment on it

  1. Open the board and scroll to the comment box. It sits below whichever tab is open. Existing comments are under it.

The comments area of a leaderboard: an empty "Write your comment..." box with Add Media and Comment, and below it Comments (1) with one comment and a "View 1 more replies" link.

  2. Type in the box. Select Add Media to attach a photo.

The same area with "Fixtures for October go up on Sunday." typed in the box and the Comment button outlined.

  3. Select Comment. Your comment appears at the top of the list.

  4. Select Reply on a comment to answer it. Replies are folded up behind View n more replies.

A comment cannot be edited or deleted. Read it before you send it.

Delete it

  1. Open the leaderboard's settings screen and scroll to Delete Leaderboard. The three-dot menu on the card in the list has the same thing under Remove.

  2. Select Delete Leaderboard. The window tells you what goes with it.

The Delete Leaderboard window: "This action cannot be undone. This will permanently delete the leaderboard and remove all associated data." with Cancel and a red Delete Leaderboard button.

  3. Select Delete Leaderboard to confirm, or Cancel to keep it.

The matches survive; the table does not. Matches played in the leaderboard stay on the teams that played them, but the league table, the ranks and the player grid go, and they cannot be rebuilt. A match that has been played cannot be moved into another leaderboard.

If it does not work

  • Somebody says your link asks them to sign in. It does. They need a Scoryboard account to open it.

  • You cannot see the comment box. Scroll down. It is below the table, not on a tab of its own.

  • Your comment is refused. You are not a member of the league. Ask the Owner to add you to one of its teams.

  • You cannot find the share button. It is on the card in the Leaderboards list, on the picture. There is none on the board itself.

  • Delete Leaderboard does nothing. You are not the Owner and not an Administrator.

  • You deleted the wrong leaderboard. It cannot be recovered. Create a new one and add the teams again - but the played matches cannot be attached to it.
