Match tags, and attaching a match to a leaderboard

Game type tags the match. The leaderboard is not optional - without one the match never leaves Incomplete.

Two fields sit side by side and they are not the same kind of thing. Game type labels the match. Leaderboard is required.

Before you start

Only the team's Owner and an Administrator can change either. Somebody who only plays for the team sees the match but has no controls at all.

Tag the match and put it in a leaderboard

  1. Open the match's details and find Game type. It starts on Friendly. There are seven: Friendly, League, Cup, Pre Season, Casual Booking, Bubble Football and League Fixture.

The Game type list open with all seven options. League is outlined.

  2. Choose a type. Once you save, the badge between the two teams reads the type you chose.

  3. Open Leaderboard and choose one. Every match needs one - a friendly as much as a league match.

The Leaderboard list open with KB 09 Sunday League outlined and a Create Leaderboard row above it.

  4. Save. The leaderboard's name joins the match's details.

What you will see

The badge only changes when you save. Choosing a Game type does not redraw it.

The leaderboard is what lets the match be played. It is the field that keeps a match on Incomplete, and an Incomplete match can never be started. So an ordinary match with no leaderboard records nothing, because it is never played.

A tournament fixture is the exception. It carries no leaderboard and still writes statistics - team tiles, player tiles and the team's Player Stats table. What it does not join is a leaderboard's own league table. Only the matches attached to a leaderboard are in that.

The tag is only a label. It does not change how the match is played or how it is counted. Use it to tell your fixtures apart.

What somebody who only plays for the team sees

The same match, read-only. No gear, no START MATCH, and nothing to save. The away team is badged External, because it is not one of their own teams.

The same match seen by a team player: every detail is there but there is no gear and no form.

If it does not work

  • The badge still says Friendly. You have not saved yet.

  • You have no leaderboard to choose. Select Create Leaderboard at the top of the list.

  • The match is not in the leaderboard's fixtures. Check that you saved. The leaderboard's Matches tab lists it under Upcoming Matches.

  • You cannot change anything. You are a player on the team, not its Owner or an Administrator. Ask whoever runs the team.
