Picking your lineup and choosing a formation

Choose a shape, put your players on the pitch, fill the bench. On Free the bench stops at three; on Pro it does not.

The LINEUP panel is where you pick who plays and where. Each team gets a pitch, a formation and a bench.

Before you start

Only the team's Owner and an Administrator can change a lineup. Anybody else sees the same panel and cannot touch it.

Pick it before kick-off. When a match starts, its lineup locks. So do the date, the venue and everything else.

Pick your team

  1. Open the match and go to LINEUP. Your team is the pitch on the left.

  2. Open Formation and choose a shape. The list holds every shape for your team size.

  3. The pitch redraws into the shape you chose, and the players move with it.

  4. Select a place on the pitch, or a bench slot, to open Select Player. Choose Select beside a squad member to put them in, or Remove to take them out.

  5. Use Add new player if the person you want is not on the team yet.

  6. Fill the bench from SUB-1 onwards.

Your squad, and who is in it

Beside each pitch is the team's squad. The markers on each row say whether that person has an account and whether they have accepted their invitation. Invite sends one.

The bench on Free

On Free you get three substitutes. The fourth slot asks you to upgrade.

What somebody who only plays for the team sees

The whole panel, read-only. Both pitches, both benches, both squads - and no Formation control, no Add Player and no Invite.

The lineup panel as a team player sees it: the pitches and benches are all drawn, and there is nothing to change.

If it does not work

  • A player you added is not on the pitch. Two players cannot share the same place. Choose a shape with a place for each of them.

  • Nothing happens when you select a bench slot. Select the + itself, not the SUB-1 label under it.

  • The fourth substitute asks you to upgrade. Your own account is on Free. The team owner's plan makes no difference.

  • You cannot change anything. You are a player on the team, not its Owner or an Administrator.

  • The match has started. Lineups lock at kick-off. Nothing can change them after that.
