Starting, pausing and ending a match

One button beside the tabs does all three, and it changes as the match goes on. Nothing asks you to confirm.

One button, at the right-hand end of the tab strip. It starts the match, it pauses it, and at full time it ends it.

Before you start

The team's Owner, an Administrator and the match's referee can all start, pause and end a match. A player on the team cannot.

Nothing here is confirmed. Each of these happens on the click.

Run the match

  1. Before kick-off the button reads START MATCH. Select it and the match is under way.

A scheduled match with START MATCH outlined beside the tabs, and a line above the card reading "This match will start automatically at the scheduled time and date".

  2. You do not have to press it. A match starts itself at its kick-off time.

  3. Once it is running, the button becomes the clock, counting down, with a pause mark.

A live match: the button now reads 48:00 with a pause mark, outlined.

  4. Select it to pause. The mark becomes a play arrow and the clock stops.

The same button paused: a play arrow where the pause mark was.

  5. Select it again to restart. Time spent paused is added back.

  6. At full time the button becomes END MATCH.

The button now reading END MATCH, outlined, with the card beneath showing "Match auto-ends in 22h 55m 56s".

  7. Select END MATCH. The match is over at once.

The finished card: a trophy on the winning team, a WIN badge, the score, and a MATCH ENDED panel reading "The match has ended and cannot be edited".

What you will see

END MATCH is not there until full time. While the clock is still running, the only button is the clock.

The match ends itself a day after full time. The countdown changes to Match auto-ends in and runs for 24 hours. If you have not ended the match by then, it ends with whatever score is on it.

A finished match cannot be changed. Not the score, not a card, not the lineup, not a detail. There is no undo.

Refreshing the page restarts a paused match. So does opening it on another device. Pause at half-time, then leave the page alone until you are ready to restart.

What somebody who only plays for the team sees

The score, live, and nothing to press. No clock, no pause, no way to end it.

A live match as a team player sees it: the score and the countdown are there, and the button beside the tabs is gone.

If it does not work

  • There is no START MATCH. The match is missing something. A match needs both teams, a leaderboard, a venue, a date, a duration and a team size before it is scheduled.

  • You cannot find END MATCH. The clock has not run out yet. Wait for full time, or let the match end itself.

  • The match ended on its own at 0-0. A day passed after full time. The score cannot be entered now.

  • The clock is running again after you paused it. The page was reloaded. Pause it again.
