Four ways out of a conversation, and they do different things. This article explains which one you want.
Before you start
A member can leave a group. Only an Admin can delete one. An admin who is the only admin cannot leave at all - hand admin to somebody else first, or delete the group.
Leaving a group
Open the group, then select its name at the top of the conversation to open Group Info.
Select Leave group and confirm.
You lose the conversation and its messages. Somebody has to add you back to return.
Deleting a group
Open Group Info and look at Group actions. As the only admin you cannot leave, and the panel says so.
Select Delete group and confirm. The group and every message in it go, for everybody.
Clearing a chat from your list
Move your pointer over the conversation in the Chats list and select the bin.
Read the warning before you confirm. This is not the same as leaving a group.
What you will see
Deleting a chat clears it for you alone. Everybody else keeps the conversation and everything in it. If somebody sends a new message, the chat comes back on your list with that message in it.
Reporting a message
Move your pointer over the message, select the arrow in its corner, then choose Report.
Pick a reason, add anything the moderators should know, then select Submit report.
The reasons are Spam, Abusive content, Harassment, Scam or fraud and Other. The details box is optional and holds up to 300 characters. You can only report somebody else's message.
If it does not work
Leave group is greyed out. You are the group's only admin. Make somebody else an admin, then leave.
There is no Delete group. You are a member. Only an admin sees it.
A deleted chat came back. That is how it works. A new message brings the conversation back to your list.
You want a group gone but you are not the admin. Leave it instead. Nothing else removes it for you.
