Every tournament has one chat room. Anybody who opens the tournament's Chat tab joins it and can reply.
Before you start
You need to be signed in to read or post. Only the Owner can restrict the room, from the tournament settings.
Using the room
Open your tournament and choose the CHAT tab. The room starts with the line that says you created it.
Type in the box at the foot and press Enter. The paperclip attaches a photo or a video.
A long message is shortened. Read more opens the rest.
This is the same on Free and on Pro. Reading a tournament message in full costs nothing.
Making it announcement-only
Open your tournament settings and find the CHAT card.
Turn on Announcement only and choose Save Changes.
Everybody else now sees the room read-only. Only you, as the Owner, can post.
What you will see
Opening the Chat tab is what joins somebody to the room, and the room says so: Fred KB joined the group. That includes people who are on none of your teams.
A visitor with no account is asked to sign in first.
If it does not work
Somebody you did not invite is posting. That is how the room works: opening the public Chat tab joins them. Use Announcement only to stop it.
Your tournament admin cannot post either. Announcement only leaves the Owner as the one person who can, even though the setting's own wording mentions admins.
The Chat tab is missing from your public page. It has been turned off in the presentation editor.
Your message is cut short. Anything past about 200 characters is shortened for everybody, on any plan. Read more opens it.
