Payment statuses and failed payments

What Pending, Paid, Failed and Cancelled mean, on a request and on one person's payment.

A payment request carries a status, and so does each person on it. They are not the same thing.

Reading a status

  1. Open Payment. The Status column covers the whole request.

The REQUESTED tab with the Status column outlined.

  2. Open a request to see where each person has got to.

  3. The person paying sees their own status on their PAY list.

What each status means

  • Pending, in amber. Nobody has paid yet, or this person has not.

  • Processing, in blue. The payment has been taken and is still settling.

  • Paid, in green. The money is on its way to the person who asked for it. It reaches their bank up to 7 days later.

  • Failed, in red. The card was refused. Nothing has been taken and the person can try again from their PAY list.

  • Cancelled, in red. The request was stopped by whoever sent it. Nobody can pay it now.

A cancelled request

  1. A cancelled request stays on the list. It is not deleted.

The REQUESTED tab with a cancelled request outlined, showing a Cancelled status.

  2. Nothing can be done to it afterwards. Editing, adding people, cancelling and reminders are all unavailable.

If a payment fails

  • Try again. A failed payment leaves the request on your PAY list with its Pay button. Nothing was taken.

  • Check the card. Most refusals are an expired card, a wrong security code, or not enough money.

  • Try a different card. Some banks block payments to new recipients.

Getting money back

Scoryboard has no refund button. If somebody has paid and should not have, contact support and settle it there. Cancelling a request does not return money that has already been paid - and once one person has paid, cancelling is unavailable anyway.
