A tournament organiser makes you a referee by adding you to one of their tournaments. Scoryboard then gives your profile a referee side, with its own bio and its own statistics.
Before you start
You need a Scoryboard account, and an organiser who is running a tournament. An organiser is the only person who can make you a referee.
How you become a referee
Tell the organiser the email address your Scoryboard account uses.
Ask them to add you as a referee on their tournament. On their side that is Participants, then Referees, then Add Referee. They fill in your name and that email address.
That is it. You are a referee as soon as they save. Open your profile to see it.
The email address has to match your account exactly. An organiser who types a different one creates a separate referee record, and your own profile stays as it was.
Your referee profile
Open your own profile. The switch at the top right has gained a Referee segment, and your profile opens on it.
Select Football on the switch to see your player profile again. Each side holds its own bio, its own statistics and its own match list.
How many sides you have depends on the sports you play. A football referee has two, Referee and Football. A referee who also plays padel has three: the switch reads Referee, Football and Padel.
Your profile opens on the referee side from now on, because being added as a referee makes Referee your default profile. You can change that under Select your default profile in Profile settings.
Add your referee bio
Your referee bio is separate from your player bio. Readers see it when your profile is on the referee side.
Select your name at the top of the sidebar. The block opens and shows how many profile fields are still empty.
Select Complete your profile. Scoryboard takes you to Profile settings and jumps to the first field you have not filled in.
Find Referee Bio under My Bio. It sits under your player bio and only referees have it.
Write your bio. You get 150 characters over five lines, and the counter under the box shows what you have used.
Select Save Changes. Your bio now shows on the referee side of your profile, above your referee statistics.
What your referee statistics count
MATCHES is the only tile that moves for a referee. It counts the matches you have been the referee on.
The card and goal tiles are your own playing figures. Refereeing does not add to them.
TOTAL FOULS stays at 0. Scoryboard does not record fouls.
AVERAGE RATING is what players have rated you after matches. See Rating a match, player, team or referee.
If it does not work
The switch has no Referee segment. Nobody has added you yet, or they used a different email address. Ask the organiser which address they typed. Look for the word Referee, not for the switch itself - every profile has a switch. A football-only account has one pill reading Football, and an account that plays padel has two, Football and Padel, whether or not anybody has made it a referee.
You are waiting for a message. Being a referee starts the moment the organiser saves. Open your profile to check.
There is no Referee Bio box in Profile settings. The box only appears once you are a referee. See the first point.
Your bio disappeared after you changed your photo. Save your photo first and your bio last. Saving a new photo on its own clears your bio. See Profile settings - what you can change.
You want to stop being a referee. Ask the organiser to remove you from the tournament.
